MARKS Medical Education Unit (MEU) is an institutional body within our MARKS Medical College, Dental Unit dedicated to enhancing teaching-learning processes, faculty development, and assessment methods. It acts as a hub for educational innovation, curriculum development, and evidence-based practice to ensure high-quality training for healthcare professionals.

Focus Area of MEU

Medical Education Unit (MEU) plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of medical education at the institutional level. MEU serves as catalysts for innovation and improvement in medical education, aiming to produce competent and compassionate healthcare professionals equipped to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare landscape. Medical Education Unit play a vital role in advancing medical education at the institutional level through curriculum development, faculty development, assessment practices, research, student support, quality assurance, technology integration, and interprofessional education initiatives. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, MEU contributes to the development of competent and compassionate healthcare professionals prepared to address the complex challenges of healthcare delivery.

 Activities of MEU

 The Medical Education Department of MARKS Dental unit implement ,supervises and coordinates the following for the students and  faculty through CME and CPD.

  1. Implementing curriculum properly for Under Graduate BDS course
  2. Supervises and coordinates overall educational & research development of the Institute.
  3. Updating & implementation of latest guidelines for UG BDS examinations,
  4. Coordinates & facilitates faculty activities, and
  5. Evaluation of student feedback regarding teaching learning method.
  6. Faculty development by arranging Seminars and workshops

Facilities for Students

Campus

MARKS Medical College, Dental unit offers a modern campus which is designed to support a complete medical education journey, blending academic infrastructure with a lifestyle that encourages health, wellness, and personal growth. The college includes advanced facilities and a 300-bed hospital, providing students with strong theoretical learning and hands-on clinical experience. Located in the prime area of Mirpur-14, Dhaka, it serves as a key destination for aspiring medical professionals.

 Educational Facilities

 Lecture Theater

There are four Air-conditioned spacious lecture theaters in the Academic building. Seating arrangements for 80 students are available in two of them and others each can accommodate 60 students.

Multimedia Projector

All the Classrooms have full-filled with the advent of new technologies and equipment developed to make teaching and learning more diversified and interactive.

Lab Facilities

There are laboratories for the department of Physiology & Biochemistry, Pathology, Anatomy, Science of Dental Materials, Oral Histology, Pharmacology, Orthodontics and Prosthodontics with various kinds of chemicals, reagent, water, gas, and all other necessary facilities.

Library

The library is an indispensable part of any educational institution as it supports the academic activities of the institution through the provision of a wide range of resources. MARKS Medical College, Dental features a fully air conditioned comprehensive library and digital e-Library, open 8:00AM to 8:00 PM (closed Fridays/holidays), offering a wide range of medical & dental books, journals, and internet access for students. The digital library provides remote access to e-books, requiring registration via student credentials. It is located in the 3rd floor of the academic building.  The library has a collection of over 1800 books. The library has separate reading areas for student and teachers. It has accommodation for seating 100 students and 10 teachers at any given time. Nevertheless, library has the Internet access facilities with printing and photocopying opportunities of different books and journals for students, doctors and teachers.

Rules for Library:

  • Use the student ID card signed by the principal to enter the library.
  • No books or other library materials shall be taken out of the library without following the library protocols.
  • Borrowed books must be returned within due time.
  • Strict silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the library. Use of mobile phone is prohibited.
  • Eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly forbidden in the library. 
  • Readers should not mark, underline, write, tear pages or otherwise damage the library documents.
  • Newspapers, magazines and journals must be read only in the library on specific tables and should not be taken to any other reading areas.
  • No library materials can be taken out of the library without permission. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt accordingly.
  • Anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the library would be liable to lose privilege of library membership and may be barred from using the library facilities.

Canteen/ Cafeteria                                                                                

MARKS Medical College, Dental Unit has a cafeteria located in the 1st floor of the academic building, with a total seating capacity of over 50 .  It serves a range of healthy and nutritious food. Low-cost meals are provided in the college cafeteria. The cafeteria is adequately staffed whose health and cleanliness is a priority. The cafeteria is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every day.

Hostel / Accommodation

MARKS Medical College, Dental Unit offers comfortable and well-furnished accommodation for students, fostering a secure and conducive living environment. It has separate accommodation facilities for both boys and girls.  Girls’ hostel offers more than 100 seat. On the other hand , MARKS Medical College has boys’ hostel in Two Separate building having 130 seat. Additionally, its proximity to the college campus ensures easy access to academic facilities, enhancing students’ convenience and overall learning experience.. The hostel facilitates a sense of community, allowing students to build lasting friendships and networks that extend beyond their academic years.

Management

Securities, environment and disciplines are closely monitored by two separate Hostel Observation Committee (one for girls and one for boys) under supervision of college authorities. Overall, hostel students’ welfare are monitored by hostel supers. Moreover, It maintains a strong focus on safety and security, with 24/7 surveillance, access control, and dedicated staff to ensure a safe and comfortable environment

 Medical Facilities

MARKS Medical College, Dental Unit provides comprehensive on-campus healthcare facilities for students. Students often receive free consultations, and in some cases, heavily subsidized (30%), , inpatient care in, specialized, cabins or wards.

 Scholarship or Financial Aids

5% free studentships are awarded every year to desiring meritorious students who do not have the financial ability to pay the College fees. Admission will be according to national policy guidelines ( Ministry of Health & Family Welfare).

Co-Curricular Activities

MARKS authority strongly believes that Co-curricular Activities can also play a significant role to develop well learned professionals .Thus, College emphasizes to the different kinds of co-curricular activities i.e. sports, cultural activity, study tour, day visit etc. along with the academic activities. Every year MARKS Medical College, Dental Unit arrange a weeklong celebration of sports and cultural competition among the students, staff and faculties.

Special Day Celebration

Every year according to the calendar, Special Days are celebrated and observed with active participation of the students and faculties, like, World Dentist Day, World Oral Health Day , World Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Week, Bangla New Year Celebration, Independence Day Celebration, Victory Day Celebration, World Health Day Celebration etc.

Student Guidance/Counseling

Proper Institutional guidance is still essential in all educations particularly in medical science to meet challenges of the world. Teachers are always keen to provide such guidance. A batch of student is placed under a teacher to help and guide students in academic matters like studies, examination, attendance and conduct. Students are advised to meet their Guide Teacher themselves or whenever asked by the Guide Teacher.

We understand that pursuing a career in dentistry can be challenging and stressful at times. That’s why MARKS Medical College , Dental Unit  has a dedicated Student Counseling Committee that provides support and guidance to students who may be facing academic, personal, or emotional difficulties. The Student Counseling Committee is made up of qualified and experienced counselors who provide confidential counseling services to students. We offer individual counseling sessions, as well as group counseling and workshops on topics such as stress management, time management, and career planning. We encourage all our students to take advantage of our counseling services and reach out to us if they need support or guidance. We are committed to promoting the mental health and well-being of our students and helping them achieve their full potential.
