I would like to begin by offering thanks for the continued support and understanding of all our students, faculty, Parents and neighbors. In addition, on behalf of everyone at MARKS Medical College (MRMC) and The MARKS Group (TMG).

I would like to express my loss on demise of Our Founder Chairman Brigadier General Professor (Dr). Mohammad Masudur Rahman Khan, an eminent ENT-Head & Neck surgeon. He dedicated his life for the cause of healthcare and healthcare education of the country. Now it is our responsibility to continue the dream of our Honorable Founder Chairman and let his ideology be reflected in our works and action.

With enthusiasm he has carried on working and developed surgical procedures in Bangladesh. After his Advanced training in laparoscopic surgery he went on to being an accomplishment Bariatric surgeon in the country.

He is First to perform Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in Ultra Obese patient in Bangladesh and also the First surgeon to Perform MGB and Sleeve gastrectomy in the country for ultra-obese patient.

He has vast experience in oncology surgery, which includes Breast, Gastric, Colon and Rectal Cancer Surgery.

He takes great interest in teaching students at the MARKS Medical College. He is open to new methods of approach oncology surgery and at the same time implements them with good success rates. He has performed many complicated cases and the outcomes of which have been rewarding.

He dedicates his time in practicing at Both Apollo Hospitals Dhaka and MARKS Hospitals.

On completion of my three-year course, I passed the exam which led to the awarding of the certificate of MS (Master of Surgery) in General surgery. I actively took part in teaching undergraduate students and also took their bed side clinics.

After my MS degree, I joined Apollo Hospitals Dhaka as a registrar. The hospital is a 400 bedded hospital, providing tertiary health care Service in the country. I was second on call twice a week. It was my responsibility to assess the patient in the ER, provide initial emergency management and decide for any emergency procedures required and do them independently. I managed many, poly trauma, abdominal trauma cases. I do take ward rounds along with my consultant and do decide and discuss regarding various cases of interest. I have been given the authority to take full responsibility of any patient that needs to be operated.

I have been promoted to the post of a Senior Registrar based on my performance as well as my acumen in surgical skills. The responsibility that I share is more independent performance in the surgical procedures.

I had gone to UK in 2000 under the ODTS scheme. I was placed in Wrexham Maelor Hospital, where my Consultant was Mr. MKH Crumplin in Upper GI, Thyroid and Breast unit. I worked in the hospital as an SHO did rotations emergency duties, assisted in emergency and routine surgeries.

I independently used to see out patients and take decisions for their management and if necessary would post them for surgery.

My surgical experience there was fully supervised, yet I was allowed independently to perform Minor surgical procedures.

In 2007 I went to Wockhard Hospital, India, from the Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, for training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.

Mr. B Ramana Bar iatric and Minimal Invasive Surgeon was my tutor.

I assisted in Laparoscopic Bar iatric Surgery, Hysterectomy Choledodochoduodenostomy, Ventral hernia Repair, and complicated Cholecystectomy.

Tarique Khan is an accomplished business leader, healthcare administrator, and management consultant with extensive experience spanning healthcare, hospitality, marketing, and organizational development. Based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, he is recognized for his strategic insight, operational discipline, and people-centered leadership approach.

Since March 2012, Mr. Khan has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of The MARKS Group, where he oversees strategic planning, business expansion, and organizational governance. Prior to this role, he served as Executive Director of The MARKS ENT Clinic & General Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd., contributing significantly to hospital administration, policy formulation, and operational systems. His initiatives include designing procedures to track monthly honorariums for external doctors and consultants, implementing pharmacy inventory-tracking systems, and establishing standardized staff uniform and operational codes.

Mr. Khan’s management and financial accomplishments are marked by strong cost control, productivity improvement, and profitability enhancement. He has successfully supervised teams of more than 400 employees, increased staff productivity through responsibility-based leadership, and maintained low labor and material cost percentages. His expertise includes budgeting, weekly and monthly labor and inventory cost analysis, employee scheduling, training across multiple operational roles, and a thorough understanding of profit and loss (P&L) management.

In the hospitality sector, Mr. Khan has managed restaurant operations and catering services while maintaining excellent customer relations that resulted in increased customer counts and revenue growth. He has also provided consultancy services to restaurants preparing for growth and national franchise development. His consulting work includes formulating strategic marketing plans, developing menus tailored to clientele preferences, advising on restaurant layout and branding, designing promotional campaigns, and setting business hours based on population demand and consumption patterns. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of employee manuals in compliance with U.S. labor laws.

Earlier in his career in the United States, Mr. Khan held positions as Marketing Analyst, Business Consultant, Assistant Manager, and Healthcare Administration Intern. He conducted daily marketing activities, led market research projects, implemented tracking systems for promotional campaigns, served as a liaison between corporations and local communities, and developed print and billboard advertising campaigns for multiple restaurant brands and hospitality divisions.

Academically, Mr. Khan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Honors from Regis University, Denver, Colorado, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with dual emphasis in Marketing and Management from Truman State University, Missouri. His academic achievements include presenting a research paper on the Japanese Keiretsu corporate integration system at an undergraduate research symposium and receiving an international scholarship.

Mr. Khan also has teaching experience, having served as a Basic Algebra Tutor at Truman State University. His technical competencies include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; networking essentials; data management systems; and graphic design applications for advertising and promotional purposes. He is multilingual, fluent in English and Bengali, conversational in Urdu, with academic exposure to Chinese and foundational knowledge of French.

Beyond his professional career, Mr. Khan has participated in charitable initiatives, including fundraising activities for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Known for his strong problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and capacity to perform under pressure, Tarique Khan is a hardworking, flexible, and dynamic leader committed to excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth in healthcare management, consulting, and business development.

The most sophisticated profession is the medical profession which can take a person to create deepest bonding to human society. The person who established this dignified profession in the form of human welfare, thought his relentless effort over a long period was Late Brigadier General Professor Dr. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan

Brigadier General Professor Dr. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan was a renowned ENT and Head Neck Surgeon and the founder chairman of The MARKS Group and the honorable founder principal of MARKS Medical College, which is one of the most prestigious and magnificent medical college in Bangladesh.

He was the pioneer in Micro Surgery in the health sector of Bangladesh. He was born in 28th January 1944 in a novel Muslim family at village kamlaur located at Sreepur upozila under Magura district.

His father Late Dr. Ebadat Ali Khan and mother Late Begum Rawshan Ara Khan. Dr. Masud is 2nd among his four brothers and three sisters.

He was blessed with two daughters and two sons. He was a teacher per excellence and inspiring leader and a true visionary. Muhammad Masudur Rahman Khan was meritorious from his childhood. He passed successfully matriculation from Dhaka Board in 1959 and Intermediate from Dhaka University in 1961. After passing the Intermediate degree, he gets himself admitted in Dhaka Medical College in the same year to serve the community.

He passed MBBS degree in 1967 and joined medical course under the Pakistan Army with one-year seniority upon being commissioned in January 1968. He graduated (MBBS) from Dhaka Medical College (1967) and awarded degree of FRCS from Royel College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (1980). He had also obtained D.L.O. on Otolaryngology (ENT) at 1975.

He had completed his pre-fellowship training and course in ENT and General Surgery at the institute of Laryngology and Otology, Royal National Ear Nose & Throat Hospital under the University of London and Royal College of Surgeons, England and Royal Marsden & Guy’s Hospital London from January 1980 to October 1980.

He had completed his post fellowship training in Otolaryngology, Microsurgery and Head & Neck Surgery at Royal Halifat Infirmary, UK from January 1981 to December 1981 under National Health Service, UK

Microsurgical training on temporal bond dissection (Middle Ear Surgery), Glasgow for one week, September 1981; Advanced training at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, USA on Endoscopic sinus surgery from July to October 1989.

He was also an examiner of MBBS course at Trivubon University in Nepal. He retired from service as Brigadier General in 2002 and he finished his professional career with huge achievements and reputation. In 2003, he was selected as” WHO IS WHO” by American Biographical Institute. In 2005, he was awarded “Gold Medal” for best achievement in health science.

He obtained “Lalon Shah Award” for Medical Science in 2010. This great leader died on 8th February 2012 due to colon cancer. He is no more with us but his inspiration will be always with us that will help us to work for the humanity.
