SNAP SHOT FROM HIS CV

Professional Experience:

I did my 3 years Residency in, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. This is a 500 bedded hospital with all medical and surgical specialties. The Dept of Surgery and allied specialties has a bed strength of 250. I learnt my basic surgical skills in the first year of the residency; After that I was allowed surgical major cases under supervision and independently intermediate cases. I was 2nd on call for emergency admissions. During the period I managed Trauma cases alone and also performed many emergency cases under the supervision of my consultants. I participated in Journal Club, CME, Seminars and Clinical Discussions as part of the residency program, I did a research work during this 3-year period of time, completion of which I published my thesis which was accepted by the University.

On completion of my three-year course, I passed the exam which led to the awarding of the certificate of MS (Master of Surgery) in General surgery. I actively took part in teaching undergraduate students and also took their bed side clinics.

After my MS degree, I joined Apollo Hospitals Dhaka as a registrar. The hospital is a 400 bedded hospital, providing tertiary health care Service in the country. I was second on call twice a week. It was my responsibility to assess the patient in the ER, provide initial emergency management and decide for any emergency procedures required and do them independently. I managed many, poly trauma, abdominal trauma cases. I do take ward rounds along with my consultant and do decide and discuss regarding various cases of interest. I have been given the authority to take full responsibility of any patient that needs to be operated.

I have been promoted to the post of a Senior Registrar based on my performance as well as my acumen in surgical skills. The responsibility that I share is more independent performance in the surgical procedures.

The privileged surgeries are Cholecystectomy (open / Lap) Hernia Appendectomy, Emergency laparotomy.

I had gone to UK in 2000 under the ODTS scheme. I was placed in Wrexham Maelor Hospital, where my Consultant was Mr. MKH Crumplin in Upper GI, Thyroid and Breast unit. I worked in the hospital as an SHO did rotations emergency duties, assisted in emergency and routine surgeries.

I independently used to see out patients and take decisions for their management and if necessary would post them for surgery.

My surgical experience there was fully supervised, yet I was allowed independently to perform Minor surgical procedures.

In 2007 I went to Wockhard Hospital, India, from the Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, for training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.

Mr. B Ramana Bar iatric and Minimal Invasive Surgeon was my tutor.

I assisted in Laparoscopic Bar iatric Surgery, Hysterectomy Choledodochoduodenostomy, Ventral hernia Repair, and complicated Cholecystectomy.
